Our Maison d'hôtes is right in the middle of
many typical Provançal villages which are a delight
to visit :Ménerbes (3mn), with its Maison de
la Truffe et du Vin, le Musée du Tire-Bouchon,
its great old houses and its splendid views to the Luberon
and Mont Ventoux.
Gordes (15 mn), the village where the houses
and their gardens seem to be part of the steep rock
face to which they cling. Also there are (le
Château, le village des Bories, l'Abbaye de
Sénanque)
Lacoste (10 mn) dominated by its ghostly château
still haunted by the memory of its builder le Marquis
de Sade.
Bonnieux (15mn) whose houses cascade down the
spur of the mountain from the higher of its two churches.
And beyond it le Bois des Cèdres.
Oppède-le-Vieux (5mn) with its romantic
ruins, half-buried in undergrowth..
Lourmarin (30mn), a superb drive down the steep
combe between le Petit Luberon and le Grand Luberon,
has its lovely castle and fine restaurants.
Rousillon (18 mn), the village of astonishing
ochre cliffs and brilliant colored houses
